Trailhead Directions

Take TransCanada Hiway to Lake Louise. Take off-ramp into L.L. Go South through the 4way stop, under the train tracks and up the road to the Chateau Fairmont Lake Louise. Approximately 2km from the highway you will see a road turning to the left (SouthEast) signed Moraine Lake Road, turn down here. In the winter, park at the road closed area which is only 100m or so.

Hike Directions

Climbing steadily, this trail includes both gently rolling and hilly stretches. Tracksetting ends at a viewpoint of Consolation Valley and the Ten Peaks. Beyond the viewpoint, the road crosses large avalanche paths. Travel beyond this point requires avalanche training and equipment.

The trail starts about 50m into the Moraine Lake Road.

It was double trackset on the way up and single trackset on the way down.

From across the valley you can see the Lake Louise Ski Resort.

As we neared the end, Mount Temple came into sight.

At this point you need avalanche gear to safely continue, so we had a quick lunch and headed back.
